<p>BOROUGH ANNUAL REPAVING WORK TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK</p>
<p> North Arlington – The borough street paving program will begin on or about June 20 with three streets targeting for resurfacing.</p>
<p>Belmont Avenue,  from Ridge Road to York Road; Sunset Avenue  from Ridge Road to Riverview and Vanderbilt Place from Schuyler Avenue to Truman Road will be  repaved. The project also includes installation of handicap curb cut ramps and speed humps to slow traffic on the streets  </p>
<p>The cost of the project total $275,000 but $200,000 of that cost is offset by a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant that was received in 2010.</p>

<p>Spring Planting Brightens Up Ridge Road</p>
<p>The North Arlington Education Foundation sponsored the planting of spring flowers in the planters on Ridge Road.  The  Women&#8217;s Club of North Arlington oversaw the project and planted the spring flowers with the  assistance of  students from North Arlington High School, who donated their time  as part of their community service requirement for graduation . Students from the Queen of Peace grammar school also assisted in the planting  .</p>
<p>Council President Richard Hughes commended the Women’s Club and the students for their effort to beautify the town.  “Planting flowers along Ridge Road helps improves the appearance of our community and lets visitors know that we take pride in our town,” said Hughes. “I truly appreciate the work of the Education Foundation,  the Women’s Club and the students who volunteered their time improve our community.</p>

WORK RESUMES ON RIDGE ROAD STREETSCAPE PROJECT   </p>
<p>North Arlington, NJ  &#8212; After a long, cold, snowy winter, work has resumed on the Ridge Road Streetscape project, announced the mayor and council.</p>
<p>Phase III of the project will stretch from Harding Avenue north to Hendel Avenue. </p>
<p>The streetscape improvements include the replacement of all existing concrete curb with Belgian block curb, and existing concrete sidewalk with a combination of brick pavers and scored concrete.  Improvements will also be made to all existing driveway aprons and curb ramps within the project limits.  Streetscape amenities such as benches, trash receptacles, decorative street lighting, and new trees are proposed along Ridge Road</p>
<p>The project is being funded by the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Transportation Enhancement and was awarded $449,246 by the New Jersey Department of Transportation last year.  The contract was awarded to Reggio Construction of Fort Lee. Construction is scheduled to be complete by early summer.  Neglia Engineering Associates is serving as the design engineer and construction manager for this project.</p>
<p>“The continuation of the Ridge Road Streetscape project is an investment in out community that will support property values,” said Mayor Peter Massa.</p>
