Concerned Residents Can Verify Appraiser’s Credentials With Police Department

The borough has begun its property revaluation process and homeowners should be aware that a representative of the real estate re-valuation company will be visiting their homes to do an examination of their properties.

Council President Richard Hughes said that the local police department has the names of the six individuals from Realty Appraisal Co of West New York that are authorized to conduct the home inspection. The department has a photograph of each individual and a description of the vehicle they are operating. The home inspector from the appraisal firm must show residents photo identification upon request of the homeowner.

If any resident is concerned about admitting an appraiser into their home, they are asked to call the police department to verify the person’s credentials. The main police department number is 201-991-4400.
